Tizzy’s Concert Review: New Kids on the Block

nkotb5.jpgI took a trip back to the 90’s on Friday night when I went to the New Kids on the Block concert at the Broomfield Events Center!  Women ages 25+ packed the place, screaming in anticipation for the 15 year reunion of Joey, Jordan, Donny, Danny and Jonathan on the stage.  Once NKOTB came out, the venue exploded with excitement…

The boys, well now men I guess, played more new songs than their old hit singles.  This seemed to disappoint a lot of the fans.  They still screamed with joy to see them perform, but I could tell a difference in the women’s reactions when they sung a new song vs. an old one like “Forever Girl” or “The Right Stuff.”  They even had another small circular stage set up in the back of the audience so they could give a front row experience to those people too.

For some odd reason, someone thought it would be a good idea for Jordan, Joey and Donny to sing solo songs.  This happened about ¾ into the show, and it set a weird mood.  Jordan decided to be like Michael Jackson and sport an open white dress shirt with a fan underneath him blowing it up.  Joey sung a Christian-like love ballad with white clouds in the background and Donny sang a single called “Call Girl” while dressed as an urban cowboy.  Like I said, weird.

Although they played one too many ballads, they capped the night off with “Step By Step” and “Hangin’ Tough” as their encores.  It was a great way to end the show.  Overall I wish they would’ve played more of their old songs, but then again, they’re on tour to promote their new album.  The NKOTB guys weren’t too shabby after 15 years!

If you went to the show, I’d love to hear your thoughts!  Below are just a few of my pictures (you can see more on my Facebook and MySpace profiles).  Share yours too here!
