Angels & Demons, By Dan Brown
(Reviewed by Tizzy)
When I heard this movie was coming out in May, I wanted to read the book first. I was familiar with Dan Brown’s other hit novel The Da Vinci Code, but I was interested to dive into Robert Langdon’s first adventure. Packed with suspense, twists, passion and smarts, Angels & Demons is not only a fun, quick read but also better than the movie.
This book tells the story of how a secret brotherhood called the Illuminati wants to destroy the Catholic Church in one night. They send the Vatican a bomb threat, and they capture four of the Cardinals from conclave to murder. It’s the perfect recipe for disaster, and the perfect puzzle for Langdon to solve. …
Angels & Demons is one of the rare books that you just never want to put down. Each chapter leaves you hanging, eager to know what happens next. You become part of the wild ride with Langdon, discovering ancient Illuminati symbols, wandering the Vatican archives, flying in speeding cars and more.
Why is the book better than the movie? The text features characters the summer blockbuster canned, including a driven BBC reporter and a scientist from the lab the bomb came from. There’s also a stronger relationship between Langdon and his female sidekick Vittoria. Plus, the ending was very different! With all those elements combined plus the invaluable price of your own imagination, I’d say this book gives you a more enhanced experience than on the big screen and would please anyone up for a good adventure.
