The Jane Report 1-26-10

The Cleveland LeaderCelebrity investigative reporter Gerald Posner says he has two sources that have shed some light on the night Tiger Woods crashed his SUV. Apparently the day before Thanksgiving Woods told his wife that the National Enquirer was getting ready to run a story about his affair with Rachel Uchitel, but assured her the story was false and that his relationship with Uchitel was platonic. Woods took some Ambien on the night of the incident to get some sleep and his wife Elin found Uchitel’s number in Tiger’s cell phone. Elin sent a few texts along the “I miss you” line and Uchitel responded like she was texting her lover Tiger. Elin then called her using Tiger’s phone and the jig was up. The Ambien was apparently the reason Woods was reportedly sleeping at the crash site when police arrived. …

“American Idol” has sent a successful candidate packing. Michael “Big Mike” Lynch made the cut, but then his dad bragged to the St. Petersburg Times that his son had made the top 24. That’s a no-no and the show cut him loose over the weekend.

Ellen DeGeneres was said to be more than a tad ticked off during the first day of taping for the “American Idol” Hollywood segment because Simon Cowell showed up an hour and a half late. To accommodate both her talk show and her “Idol” judging gig, she had moved up her schedule so that she shot the talk show earlier in the day and then raced over to “Idol”.

Nicolas Cage’s foreclosed Las Vegas mansion has been sold for almost half its original asking price.  The home has 6 bedrooms, 7.5 bath, a 16-car subterranean garage, an elevator and theater room. According to the broker, Cage purchased the 14,306 square foot home for $8.5 million back in 2006.  The home was repo’d in 2009 by the bank and was sold for $4.95 million. Cage, who has described his financial situation as “catastrophic,” claims he’s the victim of a reckless financial manager. The manager counters it was Cage who was a reckless spender. The actor still owes roughly $13 mil to Uncle Sam in unpaid back taxes

John Mayer and Taylor Swift were seen having dinner together at the Cabana restaurant in Nashville Sunday night.  Relax now…it was not a romantic date.. they were there with a big group of people and seemed to just be friends. John was in town to film an episode of CMT’s Crossroads with Keith Urban, while Taylor shot a new video.

Gary Coleman was released from a Utah jail yesterday after being arrested over the weekend on a warrant for failing to appear in court. Cops acted on the warrant after going to his home over a domestic disturbance call. He was not arrested for assault. Coleman says he missed the court date because he was in the hospital having some kind of surgery.

Skater Nancy Kerrigan’s brother Mark pleaded not guilty in a Boston court yesterday to charges in relation to their father’s death. The father died, apparently of a heart attack, during an altercation with Mark Kerrigan over the weekend.

A whopping 57.9 million viewers watched the sudden-death battle between the New Orleans Saints and Minnesota Vikings Sunday — and that number is an average. The audience peaked at a near-Super-Bowl level of 65.2 million viewers from 9:30 to 10 p.m. Outside of Super Bowls, the game was TV’s most-watched program since the finale of “Seinfeld” in 1998.

The Who will be playing at the Super Bowl halftime show… “We’re kinda doing a mashup of stuff,” Pete Townshend told Billboard Magazine. “A bit of ‘Baba O’Riley,’ a bit of ‘Pinball Wizard,’ a bit of the close of ‘Tommy,’ a bit of ‘Who Are You,’ and a bit of ‘Won’t Get Fooled Again.’ It works…” he said, adding “A lot of the stuff that we do has that kind of celebratory vibe about it we’ve always tried to make music that allows the audience to go a bit wild if they want to. Hopefully it will hit the spot.”

To no one’s surprise, CBS has renewed both “Amazing Race” and “Survivor” for the 2010-2011 season.

Miley Cyrus, Mariah Carey and Jon Bon Jovi have joined the list of singers performing on Simon Cowell’s Haiti charity single. Susan Boyle, Leona Lewis and Rod Stewart were the first to join the project that will see the artists covering R.E.M.’s “Everybody Hurts”.

It looks like Susan Boyle’s “I Dreamed a Dream” will not regain the top spot on the album chart for the week that ended on Sunday, the 24th. The chart, which will be issued tomorrow, isn’t finished yet but it looks like the “Hope For Haiti Now” benefit album managed to sell an amazing 150,000 downloads on Saturday and Sunday. Boyle’s set sold an impressive 80,000 copies for the whole week.

Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” made history last week by logging the most weekly plays in the 17-year history of Billboard’s Pop Songs radio airplay chart. That record stood for exactly one week. This week, Ke$ha’s “TiK ToK” sets the new high water mark totaling 11,224 detections in the tracking week of January 18-24.

“I haven’t made a decision yet,” 70-year-old Tina Turner tells Reuters after being asked if she’d do another world tour. “I’m not saying I won’t do it, get the girls out and do something, but I haven’t decided.” Her 2008 tour grossed almost $48 million.
