Jeremy’s Sauteed Shrimp on Rice

1 lb large shrimp peeled and deveined
1 med leek chopped up
1/2 lb sliced mushrooms
2 cloves garlic smashed or chopped
1 stick of butter

Salt and Pepper to taste

4 Servings Rice

Melt butter in  pan.  Add garlic and mushrooms and cook until brown.  Add leeks and salt and pepper.  Cook for another 2 to 3 mins.

Add shrimp and cook until pink on both sides.

Remove from stove and serve over rice.  Enjoy!

I recently finished Michael Chabon’s new work of non-fiction, Manhood For Amateurs, and it prompted me to resurrect Kavalier and Clay for the Dom and Jane Book Club. I first read this historical novel six or seven years ago. It was my introduction to Chabon’s writing, and what a way to start!

Attempting to summarize this epic tale is almost a disservice, but let’s try. Sammy Klayman and Josef Kavalier are cousins who team up to create a masked comic book hero, The Escapist. But don’t be fooled into thinking that you need to be a comic book fan to enjoy the story; it is so much more than that. I love the concept of the characters using their OWN character to say so much that needed to be said in a world gone mad. … (more…)
