“The Glass Castle:  A Memoir” By Jeannette Walls

I discovered Jeannette Walls’ “The Glass Castle: A Memoir” by reading her latest book, which is a novelization of her grandmother’s life growing up in West Texas (“Half-Broke Horses”).  I liked that book so much and became so invested in her family’s story, that I wanted to read “The Glass Castle”.

Jeanette’s mother Rose Mary and her father, Rex met in Texas, after WW II.  He was a smart aleck, wheeler-dealer, while her mother had dreams of being an artist.  They both drank…a lot and were quick to uproot their 4 children every time the law or paranoia about the law freaked her dad out. … (more…)
