Jake Gyllenhaal is officially an action star! He got super buff for this movie, and it paid off. Not only does his body look great, but I was impressed with his stunts. Gyllenhaal’s sexy exterior mixed with a fun story makes this movie a summer blockbuster hit!
Some of you may not know this, but this movie is based off a video game. Who knew it could translate so well to the big screen? It’s about an adventurous prince named Dastan who teams up with a princess to stop an angry ruler from releasing a sandstorm that could destroy the world. Lots of obstacles get in their way, including Dastan being accused of murdering his father, but it’s those hurdles that make the movie worth watching.
I must admit, I didn’t really expect much, but I was more than pleased. I’ve never seen Gyllenhaal do a foreign accent before, and he pulled it off. The costumes were fantastic, and the people behind this movie created quite a beautiful world. It’s just one of those fun adventure flicks for the whole family to enjoy (well…8 and up), and it wouldn’t surprise me if this turned into a series!
Who to take to this movie: people who like sword fights
Don’t see this movie if: you hate sand

Lee DeWyze is the new “American Idol” champ. “This is amazing!” he said after Ryan Seacrest announced his name. “Thank you guys so much for everything… I can’t believe this… I’m so happy right now. I’ve never been happier in my life!” Perhaps equally as big on the night was Simon Cowell’s departure. “I didn’t think I was going to be this emotional, but I genuinely am,” Cowell said as he joined past Idol contestants onstage. “The show will go forward, it’ll be different, but I just want to thank you for the support, the fun and… everyone, your sense of humor, that’s what’s been the best part.” … (more…)

Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda return to the silver screen for a whole new adventure. The fierce foursome face new struggles in their lives, plus take a lavish trip to the Middle East in this sequel. It’s still filled with lots of laughs, but unfortunately just doesn’t have the same sparkle as the first one.
The first movie focused mostly on Carrie, Samantha and Miranda. This time around Carrie and Samantha still have the main storylines, but Charlotte overshadows Miranda. It sticks to what the series is known for, fabulous fashion and witty dialogue, but it seemed like some of the stories were forced just to have a movie.
The movie starts off strong with a gay wedding, featuring Liza Minnelli as the entertainment. Then it gets a bit stale until they go to Abu Dhabi. They’re not shy in showing the cultural differences, especially when it comes to women and sexuality. Plus the scenery is absolutely beautiful, and there was a great callback there, Aidan. This second installment is like one really long episode you don’t want to turn off, but you may feel a bit under whelmed at the end.
Who to take to this movie: “Sex and the City” fanatics
Don’t see this movie if: hanging out with a group of women BFFs isn’t your cup of tea

We’re helping listeners with their dilemmas by turning to YOU to vote for a side! Then we’ll announce the results! Here’s today’s e-mail…
Dom and Jane,
My husband and I have a 2-year-old beagle named Scooter, and since we have no kids, he is like our child. A few months ago Scooter got out of the yard and was gone for almost two months!
It’s a long story about how we finally got him back (let’s just say there are still very nice people out there). But when we first got him back we were so happy that we let him sleep in bed with us for a few nights. Then a few nights became a week, then a month. Now it’s been two months, and my husband keeps insisting that Scooter go back to his spot on the floor.
I’ve gotten very used to having him at the foot of the bed, and after almost losing him forever I’d like to keep him there. My husband says he doesn’t sleep as well with Scooter in the bed, and after two months its time for him to get out.
I know this shouldn’t be a big deal but we are really fighting about this. Like every night. Who’s right?
Call us Jackie and Dave, please.
And the results are… 2 votes for Jackie, 8 votes for Dave. Looks like Dave is right!

Lindsay Lohan was ten minutes late for her court appearance on Monday, and the judge wasn’t happy about it. Judge Marsha Revel laid down the law during the hearing in Beverly Hills court telling Lindsay that in order to stay free on bail, she cannot drink alcohol, submit to random drug testing and wear a SCRAM device that will notify authorities if she takes a drink of alcohol. Lindsay must also attend all scheduled alcohol ed classes at least once a week. … (more…)
