The creators of “South Park” . . . Trey Parker and Matt Stone . . . were interviewed on “60 Minutes” last night. Parker explained where the idea for the show came from. He says they loved “All in the Family,” and decided the only way you could have a character like Archie Bunker in the politically correct 90’s was to make him a little kid.
Trey Parker said they chose the city of South Park, Colorado, because when they were growing up outside Denver, they’d hear about crazy things happening . . . like UFO sightings . . . and they always happened in South Park. Trey Parker talked about the episode when they implied that Tom Cruise is gay. He said the show’s lawyers told them they couldn’t SAY he’s in the closet. So they came up with the idea to put him in an ACTUAL closet.
