News For Nerds: September 30, 2011

cyborg

Hollywood has glamorized the idea of cyborgs. In fact, when I hear the word my brain often pulls up an image of Ah-nold saying “I’ll be back.” But in reality, we’re just learning how to meld human parts with machine parts. And that’s where rats come in.

Rats? Yes, rats.

Also this week: Scientists are always trying to prove Albert Einstein wrong. It’s like some cool badge, or something, to be able to say “the German patent clerk screwed up!” Now there’s a new report that claims his ideas concerning the speed of light might be off by a few nanoseconds. In other words, there might be some particles out there that would beat light in a 100-meter dash.

Plus, I don’t want you to worry about this too much, but it’s possible that a solar storm could come along and ruin everything. I mean EVERYTHING.

You should read more about all of these stories - no, really, you should - and you can do that (and share them with all of your real friends and online friends) by taking this path right here. C’mon, it’s cool to get your nerd on!
