News For Nerds: October 13, 2011

It’s the stuff of adventure novels, you know? Criss-crossing the seas, diving deep below the surface, hunting for hidden treasure. Lots - and I do mean lots - of ships over the centuries have ended up on the ocean floor, with an untold amount of gold, silver, and other valuable property.

Now, science is helping companies…and countries…find the X on the map.

Also this week, it sounds like something out of science fiction, but it’s now science fact. The technology that was glamorized on the television show The Six Million Dollar Man (who would be worth a lot more today; inflation, you know) has been used on a real person. His control of the robotic arm, using brain implants, is great news for folks with spinal injuries.

And what makes an optimist an optimist? Can they be hard-wired to ignore bad news?

These stories, and more, can be found right here, along with photos and links. C’mon, it’s fun to get your nerd on! And please: share the link with all your friends, through email and Facebook.
