Madonna was on “Leno” last night, and she talked about the story behind her infamous performance of “Like a Virgin” at the 1984 MTV Video Music Awards, where she rolled around the floor.  She said she lost one of her shoes, then tried to play it off like it was all planned.
Madonna is gearing up for her Super Bowl halftime show this Sunday, and Elton John has some advice.  He wants her to make sure she does a good job lip-syncing.

What will Madonna be singing at the Super Bowl?  According to the new NFL Magazine, three songs are confirmed by the league in a blurb about the Material Girl.  They are “Gimme All Your Luvvin,” “Ray of Light,” and “Vogue.” Madonna’s also going to have the people from Circque du Soleil with her.  Should be quite a halftime show.

Elton John explained why he would never do a Super Bowl halftime show.  He says the only decent performances he’s ever seen were by the Rolling Stones in 2006 and Prince in 2007.

19 year old “X Factor” winner, Melanie Amaro is starring in a Pepsi spot that will air during the Super Bowl.  Now comes word that Elton John will join her in the 60 second spot.  The ad is described as “a rock-fantasy version of medieval times” with Amaro performing her own version of Aretha Franklin’s “Respect.”  There is also an Acura spot, featuring Jay Leno and Jerry Seinfeld and of course the “Ferris Bueller” spot for Honda that’s been teased all over the internet.

It’s official now.  Steve Jones will no longer host “The X Factor.” Jones tweeted the message, “I wont be hosting next seasons XFactor which is a shame but I cant complain as I’ve had a great time.  Good luck to everyone on the show.”  Steve Jones isn’t the only one not returning for the second season of X Factor.  Nicole Scherzinger has decided not to come back.  Scherzinger is currently rehearsing for her upcoming European tour that kicks off next month.  She also said that being a judge broke her heart more times than not and she’s an artist first, not a judge.

“American Idol” producer, Nigel Lythgoe has asked President Obama to come on the show to sing the song, “Let’s Stay Together” with Al Green.  Seems Nigel was blown away by Obama’s short rendition of the songat the Apollo Theater earlier this month.  The offer was made via twitter.

Things heated up on “The Bachelor” last night, when Courtney . . . a model from Scottsdale . . . asked Ben to make the most of his time in Puerto Rico.  She took him skinny dipping, and told him he could keep his underwear on if he wanted to.  But neither of them did.

A mathematician named Vi Hart has posted a video on YouTube declaring that the house SpongeBob SquarePants lives in can’t possibly be a pineapple.

OK Go wrote a song called “Three Primary Colors” that will premiere on an episode of “Sesame Street” on February 2nd.

Guns N’ Roses will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April and the band announced Monday that it will play three shows at small New York clubs in February to celebrate the induction.  Reportedly, the club dates will be performed by the current Guns N’ Roses led by frontman Axl Rose, who owns the band name.  That means he will not be joined by his ex-bandmates guitarist Slash, Izzy Stradlin, Duff McKagan and Steven Adler who made up the band in their glory years.

Shakira had a big weekend in France, as she accepted a French knighthood and then accepted top prize at the NRJ Music Awards.  The singer was made a Knight of the Order of the Arts and Letters for her contributions to music in the afternoon, and then later Saturday night, Shakira received the Award of Honor from the NRJ Music Awards.  These awards were created in 2000 by the radio station NRJ.  Also honored were Adele, Rihanna and Justin Bieber.

Jonah Hill will host “Saturday Night Live” on March 10th.  This will be Hill’s second time hosting the show.  Channing Tatum, will host SNL for the first time this Saturday with musical guest Bon Iver.

Actress Susan Sarandon will appear on several episodes of Season 3 of Showtime’s “The Big C”.  Sarandon will play Joy, a cancer survivor who is using her unique experience to inspire and motivate others.  She makes Cathy question whether she’s doing enough with her own cancer experience.  Season 3 of “The Big C” will premiere Sunday, April 8th on Showtime.

Rick Springfield is heading back to “General Hospital” to reprise his role as Dr. Noah Drake for a few episodes beginning in March.  He’s back in Port Charles to see his son, Dr. Patrick Drake.  If you recall, Noah left town in 2008 because of his drinking and need for serious help.  Finola Hughes (Anna Devane Scorpio Lavery Scorpio) is also returning to the soap.  She began taping last week for a mid-February return.

It must be time for contract negotiations because Neil Patrick Harris is wondering aloud if he will be around for an 9th season of “How I Met Your Mother”. The cast is signed through next season but no one knows if the series will end there.  “I would love to do more of the show…this is a great job” he said.  As far as the rumors are concerned that NPH would replace host Ryan Seacrest on “American Idol”, the actor said he wouldn’t want that job…”he’d rather be a judge”.  “How I Met Your Mother” returns with a new episode on February 6th.

Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry have been urged by the court to get some serious counseling for the benefit of their 3 year old daughter, Nahla.  Also suggestion was mediation, in which a 3rd party would sit with Halle and Gabriel and try to figure out how they can peacefully raise their child.  Reportedly, Halle was receptive but Gabriel wasn’t.  Gabriel has agreed, however, to counseling for his anger issues.  Halle has asked the court to keep Gabriel from Nahla until the child endangerment investigation runs its course but the judge didn’t rule onthe request.

According to a press release from producers of “Downton Abbey,” Shirley MacLaine will join the ensemble cast when it begins filming its third season next month.  The Oscar-winning star of “Terms of Endearment” will play Martha Levinson, mother of American-born Lady Grantham.
