The Jane Report

Brent Michaels and his longtime girlfriend, and mother of his two children, Kristi Gibson, have called off their engagement. Michaels and Gibson are parents to Raine Elizabeth, 12, and Jorja Bleu, 7. The couple got engaged in December 2010 after more than 16 year together. Michaels’ proposal aired on the finale of his VH1 reality show, “Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It.”

U.S. swimmer Missy Franklin finished first in the women’s 100-meter backstroke, and set a new American record with a time of 58.33. She said she knew it was going to be a difficult night with two races, but it was an amazing experience.

While actress Kristen Stewart called her affair with married “Snow White and the Huntsman” director Rupert Sanders a “momentary indiscretion,” Sanders’ brother-in-law says that’s not true.  He said the tryst lasted from the last half of filming and all through post-production, clear into last week,” said Leopold Ross, who is married to Rupert’s sister, Liberty. We know that Robert Pattison has had Kristen move out of their shared home and now it is left to be seen if Rupert will be able to reconcile with his wife.

Sharon Stone and Carrie Fisher have joined the mob that is going to roast Roaseanne Barr on Comedy Central.  The roasters will also include Katey Sagal and Seth Green along with the usual wrecking crew of Jeffrey Ross, Amy Schumer, and Anthony Jeselnik. (Bummer…no Tom Arnold!) More names will be added this week.  Jane Lynch is the roastmaster. The last celebrity to be roasted on Comedy Central was Charlie Sheen, whose Sept. 2011 spectacle drew 6.4 million viewers, making it the network’s second most watched telecast EVER!

“Survivor” host and newlywed Jeff Probst will enter the chat show fray on September 10th, along with Ricki Lake, Steve Harvey and Katie Couric.  Probst says his show won’t be about celebrities or conflict…no Jerry Springer, but more like Phil Donahue and Oprah Winfrey. Perhaps the most innovative element Probst plans to bring to the table involves his green room, dubbed a “party room” on the show. The space will feature massage chairs, a hair and makeup station, snacks, a photo booth and laptops for social media connection. Audience members will have an opportunity to hang there before and after the show. Probst says he wants the audience to feel welcome.

George Clooney is auctioning his Tesla Roadster sports car and giving the proceeds to the “Satellite Sentinel Project.”  Clooney founded the organization that uses satellite images to monitor the borders of Sudan and South Sudan in an effort to help report on possible military operations, alleged mass graves, razed villages, and forced displacement in the unstable region. Clooney purchased the car in 2008, and was one of its first high-profile customers. The electric car has a range of 244 miles per charge. The black two-seater has just 1,700 miles on the odometer. The car will be auctioned at the Pebble Beach, Concours de Elegance event on August 19th. The car is expected to fetch between $100,000 and $125,000, about what it cost when it was new. The Tesla Roaster went out of production last year.

Scarlett Johansson is singing again. She teamed up with a French singer named Lucien Gainsbourg to record a song called “Bonnie and Clyde”. It’s a tribute to Lucien’s father Serge Gainsbourg, who did the song originally.

Conan joked last night on the Nickelback fan who nearly killed himself trying to sneak into a show. He fell 40 feet into a gorge, but he’s going to be okay. Conan said doctors told the guy it could be worse . . . he could have made it into the concert.

The incarcerated Dr. Conrad Murray believes he can still PROVE Michael Jackson injected himself with a fatal dose of Propofol and he’s begging an appeals court to let him test his theory.  He wants tests to search for traces of lidocaine. The lidocaine is important because the prosecution argued that Murray hooked MJ up to an IV bag containing the fatal dose of propofol and left him alone … but first, he mixed the Propofol with lidocaine to ease the sting of the drug. Murray claims testing will prove there was NO lidocaine on the vial … because Jackson injected himself with a pure dose of Propofol … and killed himself. Murray is currently serving time in L.A. County Jail and the judge in his case says that Murray should have made the request before the trial began.  It could take months before a court makes its decision.

Speaking of Michael Jackson, his family all agrees on at least one thing.  They want to keep the 2,500 acre Neverland Ranch that Michael and his three kids called home. When Michael died in 2009, he was $500 million in debt however, in just three years, Michael’s estate has generated $475 million in revenue, bringing all debt current and making a decision on the land possible within the next year. While some hope the land will become a sort of “Graceland” for Micheal, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, want the land to be converted into a sanctuary for rescued exotic animals. Jermaine Jackson lobbied hard for the land to be developed into an amusement park, museum and concert venue celebrating his brother’s legacy.   Unfortunately for them, the land is zoned for commercial agriculture and a lot of the property was built without the proper permits, so most would have to be torn down before anything else was rebuilt.  The small quiet neighborhood of ranchers do not want the peace and quiet that Michael loved to be destroyed so they have banded together to form a group called “Never!” to stop any further development.

With all the goofy songs they sing on the show, “How I Met Your Mother” is finally getting its own soundtrack album.  There are 20 tracks that contain 40 minutes of music.  While not all the choices have been finalized, obvious tracks include a full version of the theme song,  all the Robin Sparkles songs, “Nothing Suits Me Like a Suit,” the Puzzles theme song, plus a more elaborate version of the ‘Bang-Bang-Bangity-Bang’ song. The album will premiere on iTunes on the show’s season premiere night, Monday, September 24th.

Bill Clinton will be giving a speech at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, but he may not get as many viewers as usual because he’s on the same night as the NFL’s season opener, when the Dallas Cowboys face the New York Giants on Wednesday, September 5th. Because the former president will speak Wednesday, Vice President Joe Biden will make his primetime speech Thursday night - the final evening of the convention when President Barack Obama accepts the nomination and gives his address.

Hey Big Bang fans… After treating his iPhone’s Suri like a girlfriend last season, Raj will finally be getting a real love interest.  Costar Kaley Cuoco thinks it would be great if Raj hooked up with Penny’s never-before-been-seen mom.  She thinks actress Lisa Kudrow would be the perfect person to play her mother and a lover for Raj.  The show’s producers kinda like the idea and are kicking it around. “I imagine her to be a skanky, dirty, trailer trashy cougar, hitting on the boys. I’d love for her to go after Raj” she said.

“The Hobbit” director Peter Jackson says the adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s novel, which was initially conceived as two films, will now be a trilogy. Jackson made the announcement on his Facebook page, and the third movie is set for release in summer 2014. Part one of “The Hobbit,” subtitled “An Unexpected Journey,” hits theaters on Dec. 14th, while part two, “There and Back Again,” is set for release on Dec. 13th, 2013.

Hitting the auction block soon is Willie Nelson’s beloved tour bus! The Eagle 1 Motor Coach was purchased by the singer in 1986 and crisscrossed the country with him until 1999.  A tour bus owned for a dozen years by country music legend Willie Nelson is set to cross the block at the Auctions America event in Auburn, Indiana this Labor Day weekend.  Christened “Honeysuckle Rose,” the 40-foot-long RV features sleeping for six, a shower, plenty of audio/visual equipment from the era and western themed murals by an artist known as “Rainmaker.”  Auctioneers expect the rig to bring in between $60-$80.000 dollars.
