The Jane Report

Neil Armstrong died on Saturday, from complications resulting from heart surgery.  He was 82 years old.  On July 20th, 1969 he became the first human being to walk on the moon.

In an interview on the BBC in 1970, Neil Armstrong described what the sky and the Earth looked like from the Moon.  He said the sky is a “deep black,” and he could only see the Earth and the Sun from the Moon.  He said he wasn’t able to see any other planets even though it could be possible.  He also said the Earth was “blue” and “covered with white lace.”

Snookie has delivered her spicy meatball!  Nicole Polizzi gave birth to a boy on Sunday. Word is that Katy Perry turned down $20 million dollars to become a judge on “American Idol”.  That money beats already-signed judge Mariah Carey’s deal by $2 million. Apparently, Perry couldn’t clear her schedule enough to make it happen…not even for $20 million.  Keith Urban is a new name that has joined the judges frey to join Carey at the table.

No surprise here: Prince Harry appears to be single again.  Sources say Harry’s girlfriend Cressida Bonas was humiliated by the pictures of his nude carousing with other women in Vegas, so she dumped him.  Sources also say Harry got cussed out both by his dad, Prince Charles, and his grandmother Queen Elizabeth.

Prince Harry, whose naked body has been plastered all over the world on tabloid front pages, will get a “dressing down” by his commanding officer and will be asked to donate two weeks of his wages to charity. The UK’s Gen Sir David Richards, the Chief of the Defence Staff, has been involved in deciding how to deal with the embarrassment of the Army’s highest-profile officer cavorting with a naked girl during a game of “strip billiards”. The prince, 27, is an Apache helicopter pilot. He is known in the Army as Capt Harry Wales.

Kelsey Grammer was also on “Oprah’s Next Chapter” last night.  And he had a LOT to say.  Here’s Kelsey on his ex-wife Camille, star of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”.  They divorced two years ago, and he still refuses to say her name.  But he admits he stayed with her because he owed it to her to make her famous.

Kelsey talked to Oprah about the brutal murder of his sister Karen back in 1975.  He said he might be able to forgive the men who did it, if they admitted it and were truly sorry.  Karen was 18 when it happened.  Three men tried to rob a restaurant where she worked.  They didn’t get any money, but they kidnapped Karen because they thought she could identify them.  They raped her for hours and then stabbed her to death.

Oprah asked Kelsey whether he was hurt when his career took a dive after “Frasier”.  But it sounded like she was talking about herself.  She said when you’ve been accustomed to enormous success, your ego can’t help but be affected if a new project doesn’t succeed the same way.

We’ll probably never know the REAL details of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ divorce settlement.  But that’s not going to stop the tabloids from speculating and printing poorly-vetted rumors.  Here’s the first Sources say Katie got NOTHING from Tom because there was an iron-clad prenup in place.  But she does receive $400,000 a year in child support for their daughter Suri. That’s about $33,333 a month.  He’ll be paying it for the next 12 years, until Suri is 18.  That’s a total of $4.8 million.  Katie probably could have gotten more if she went to court, but apparently this was never about money.  Both parties just wanted to settle up as quickly as possible.

Ann Romney’s speech before the Republican National Convention has been moved to Tuesday, so it can be televised in primetime on ABC, NBC and CBS. It had originally been scheduled for Monday, but the broadcast networks decided not to broadcast the convention on Monday. Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee and former Florida Governor Jeb Bush will speak instead.

Journey will play for a campaign event for Mitt Romney.  The band, who says it’s just another gig for them and not an endorsement, says they are gonna make $500,000 for the 90 minute show during the Republican National Convention on Thursday.
