The Jane Report

Eighty-eight year old Bob Barker, former host of “The Price Is Right” has put his pocketbook where his mouth is. Recently, Barker reached deep into his pockets and shelled out $250,000 to a wildlife rescue in Texas, one that had
only asked for a donation of $5,000. Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation (WRR) said Barker called them about the request, after doing research about the undertaking.  He was so impressed by their work with animals, he made a larger donation to support the purchase of a ventilator as well as many other things he knows the shelter need for all the animals they rescue. Over 7,000 animals are brought to WRR annually, and the majority of them are rehabilitated and released or given permanent sanctuary.

Stephen Colbert made fun of networks trying to call races too early, without enough information.  Someone handed him a tear-stained napkin from which he projected that CNN projected that Animal Planet predicted that Obama would win.

On last night’s “Daily Show” they suggested some possible running mates for the 2016 election . . . which they predict will be between Hillary Clinton and Jeb Bush.  Romney got no minority support, so for him they’re choosing Condi Rice, Mia Love a Republican mayor who ran for a House seat in Utah or Madea.  Hillary needs to reach older white males, so her best picks are a 1962 Impala or a can of beer.

Newlyweds Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel spent their honeymoon on safari in Africa!  The two married in Italy on October 19th and two days later arrived in Tanzania.  Later took a helicopter from Kilimanjaro International Airport to Singita Grumeti, a private reserve in Serengeti Park.  The couple took in the wildlife, went on a hot air balloon ride and stayed in a luxurious lodge.

Martha Stewart is getting into the comedy business. She will executive produce a FOX project called “The Tao of Martha,” about a woman who decides to clean up her life by following Stewart’s example.  The show follows a former party girl whose husband leaves her because he can no longer stand her “chaotic” lifestyle.  She decides to pull herself together and become a better example for her daughter by taking cues from Stewart.

Jack Nicholson has done his share of fornicating over the years, and he admits it.  But he’s not necessarily happy with that reputation.  He says, quote, “I am an extreme person. If someone says, ‘Jack, you are a womanizer,’ I don’t deny it.  But the life of a gigolo always ends badly. That is one of the reasons I feel uncomfortable about all that ’sex legend’ stuff.”  He adds, quote, “There are also women I have seen, intimately, for a very long time over my life.  Unexpected, perhaps, but true.” Jack also cops to temper issues quote, “Anger has always been a problem and every once in a while I just have to let it out.  I always regret it later.  “After a couple of hours I calm down and think, ‘What way could I have solved that problem other than blowing up?’  I should have learned how to do that long ago and that would have made my life easier with less apologizing.”

Like any good cougar, Cameron Diaz can sense a wounded animal a mile away  and she knows that’s the perfect time to POUNCE.  “Us Weekly” says Cameron sat next to Robert Pattinson at some Hollywood event back on October 27th, and she went in for the kill.  But in this case, her attack was rebuffed.  A source says, quote, “She was pretty obvious.  Cam was seated next to Rob at dinner.  She was touching his arm, doing her big Cameron laugh at everything he said and trying really hard.  He was polite, but not having it.”  Rob is 26 Cameron is 40.

So why did they pull the plug on Anderson Cooper’s show so early?  Because it reportedly cost $20-$25 million a month to produce, vs $10-$15 million for the average show.  Add in poor ratings and that’s the recipe for disaster.
Telepictures, an arm of Time Warner, was actually losing money on the program which is unusual for a syndicated daytime show.  The reason the announcement was made so early when there was still seven months of shows ahead was that Cooper wanted to be upfront with the staff. Cooper had long been speculated about as the likely successor to Regis Philbin on the morning show with Kelly Ripa, a close friend and longtime fill-in co-host, when Regis decided to retire from “Live.” Privately, he admitted that when he signed to do his own daytime show in September 2010 he had not been told that Regis was going to leave just 90 days later.

Lindsay Lohan not another probation violation?  Apparently the actress is in a big mess regarding a car accident in June.  Although she told officers he was not driving the car that ran into the back of an 18 wheeler, she has been
telling people that the reason for the accident was that the brakes in her rented Porsche failed.  Now Lohan is being charged with lying to a police officer and that’s a misdemeanor…and for Lindsey, it’s a probation failure. The criminal filing could trigger a probation violation, and Judge Stephanie Sautner, the judge in Lindsay’s jewelry heist case could send her back to jail.  The charge is expected to be filed as early as the end of the week.

Reports are everywhere that “Dancing With The Stars” pro dancer, Cheryl Burke is being courted to be the next Bachelorette with the season being named, “Dancing To The Tune of Love!”  Allegedly, the show has been after her for some time now. However, sources say that it’s Burke who is begging to do the show. If Burke did take time off from DWTS next season, it would be the first time since the show started that she didn’t participate.

Teri Shields, the mother of Brooke Shields died last Wednesday after a long illness.  Teri had guided Brooke’s career and image from the time the actress/model was 11 months old.  Teri was 79 and had suffered from dementia.
“My mother was an enormous part of my life and of who I am today,” Brooke says in a statement. “I loved her, laughed with her, and respected her. And although she had her share of struggles, she was my mom.”

“Dancing With The Stars” judge, Carrie Ann Inaba has launched “The Carrie Ann Inaba Animal Project” which is something she’s wanted to do all her life. Inaba partnered with with the Entertainment Industry Foundation to lay the groundwork for the Animal Project, whose mission is to support the rescue, welfare and well-being of animals.
