The Jane Report

Two Australian radio hosts prank called Kate Middleton’s hospital pretending to be Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles and they actually got THROUGH.  They called the King Edward the Seventh Hospital in London, made it past the front desk to the nurse, and actually got some real information about Kate’s condition.  Even though their accents were horrible.  Now the hospital has launched an internal investigation, and the DJs have apologized.  It’s Mel Greig, a woman, and Michael Christian from the “2Day” show.  And Mel’s British accent is so awful, you can’t imagine anyone falling for it.  Plus she sounds 60 years too young.  The nurse said Kate was very dehydrated when she came in, but she’s getting lots of fluids.

John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John went on “Ellen” together yesterday to promote their new Christmas album.  Ellen asked John about his two-year-old son.  Sounds like the kid is turning into a REALLY generous host.  When they have guests over and he’s breastfeeding.  Yep, still breastfeeding at the age of two he’ll sometimes stop and offer to let everyone in the room have a turn.  Ellen said that made him really generous and Olivia said, “Like his dad” which sounds a little creepy in this context.

Blake Shelton is getting some heat for some of the material from his “Not-So-Family Christmas Special” that aired the other night.  But he doesn’t want to hear it.  He said on “Extra” last night that it was just dumb fun, and anyone who was offended needs to get backhanded.

Kristen Wiig is reportedly in negotiations to join the cast of “Anchorman:  The Legend Continues” . . . as a love interest for Steve Carell’s character Brick Tamland.

Stephen Colbert had Andy Serkis, the voice of Gollum, on his show last night.  Stephen tried to give Andy his best Gollum impression.  And then Andy gave him some tips on doing it the RIGHT way.  Stephen started off talking like Edward G. Robinson . . . except it was more like the Edward G. Robinson caricature from the old “Bugs Bunny” cartoons.  Andy showed him how to cough up the words from the back of his throat, the way he does it in “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings”.

Jimmy Fallon talked last night about McDonald’s bringing back the McRib.  He said that’s what the Mayans were trying to warn us about.

David Letterman talked about Madonna’s cone bra being sold at auction for $77,000 to an anonymous bidder.  He joked that you have to remain anonymous when you’re buying Madonna’s old underwear.

Legendary jazz musician Dave Brubeck, best known for the song “Take Five,” has died. Brubeck died of heart failure Wednesday, a day shy of his 92nd birthday. He was reportedly on his way to an appointment with his cardiologist when he passed away. Brubeck formed the Dave Brubeck Quartet in San Francisco in 1951. In 1959 the group released the album “Time Out,” which went platinum and included what would become Brubeck’s signature song, “Take Five.” Brubeck remained active late into his life, touring as late as 2009. He received a Kennedy Center Honor that same year and also received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1996.

The judges for the Miss America Pageant, airing on January 12th have been announced. According to organizers, Miss America must be intelligent, talented, well-spoken, a leader, have a commitment to her community and be modern in her style and fashion…a relevant and individual young woman who can connect with today’s contemporary woman as well as being physically fit.  Here are the judges:

* Bradley Bayou has a ready-to-wear “namesake” collection on QVC, his name is on the book “The Science of Sexy,” and he’s is a member of Oprah Winfrey’s “Glam Squad.”

* Cheryl Burke is a professional dancer on “Dancing with the Stars” and its first professional dancer to appear in the finals four times.

* Sam Champion “Good Morning America” weather anchor.

* Mary Hart was host of “Extra” for nearly 30 years.

* Daymond John is star of “Shark Tank”, and CEO and founder of FUBUclothing company.

* McKayla Maroney is the Summer Games gold medalist vaulter turned aspiring actress

* Katie Stam Irk was Miss America 2009 and continues to do motivational speaking while being a consultant for all-things-tanning company New Sunshine, LLC.

Former “Bachelorette” star Emily Maynard will be competing on the next season of “Dancing With The Stars”.  Because ABC airs both shows, according to website RadarOnline.com, Maynard committed to the dancing competition when she signed her “Bachelorette” contract. Maynard recently called off her engagement to Jeff Holm after it was discovered that she was sexting other men while she was engaged to be married.  It will be interesting to see if the viewers have forgiven her for dumping Holm who adored her and had also fallen in love with her young daughter, Ricki.  Season 16 of “Dancing With The Stars” premieres March 18, 2013.

Priscilla Presley thinks the tv show, “The Simpsons” is bad for kids and should be banned. She doesn’t believe the show promotes good morals.  The subject came up with the actress in an interview with Stylist magazine when she was asked if she could be “Queen of Everything” what would she do?  Presley thinks TV needs to bring back something more family oriented like “Leave It To Beaver”.  (Yes,where June doesn’t have a car and stays home all day cleaning wearing a dress and heels.) Priscilla - who is playing the Wicked Queen in pantomime ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ in London this month - is also worried about the decline of religion in Western society and is concerned about the amount of children being raised by divorced parents even though she herself was divorced from her daughter Lisa Marie’s father, Elvis Presley.  Lisa Marie has been married and divorced three times. (Danny Keough, Michael Jackson and Nicolas Cage) Lisa Marie now lives in East Sussex, England with her husband, guitarist Michael Lockwood, and their four-year-old twin girls Harper and Finley and Lisa’s two children. Lisa also has two grown up sons, Riley and Benjamin from her first marriage to Keough.

While they may be separated, Danny Devito says he and his wife, Rhea Perlman are very close and actually still together…just separate. Devito told “Extra” that the couple are working on saving their marriage.

Ariel Winter, who plays Alex on “Modern Family” is not the only daughter that her mother appears to be abusing.   Evidently Chrystal Workman recently attempted to leak nude photos of Ariel’s sister Shanelle Gray through a Hollywood publicist. Jonathan Hay said Chrystal contacted him this week and said she had nude photos of Shanelle she wanted to secretly release to the public. Hay claims Chrystal hounded him all week but refused because he felt like Chrystal was trying to “sell out her daughter” and he wanted to help Ariel. Hay says he would have no problem filing a declaration in support for Ariel but hasn’t yet been asked to do so. Ariel’s case will be back in court on December 10th.
