Singer Amy Winehouse died July 23, 2011 and while her death was ruled to be accidental alcohol poisoning, a legal snafu had to toss out the findings and had to be done again. This time around, the inquest has confirmed that Winehouse died of accidental alcohol poisoning when she began drinking again after a period of abstaining from alcohol and drugs. Coroner Shirley Radcliffe ruled that the singer “died as a result of alcohol toxicity” and recorded the verdict of death by misadventure. She said there was no foul play or suspicious circumstances.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have purchased a Bel Air, California, mansion for $11 million dollars. The 14,000 square foot Italian style villa is still under construction and will include a gym, movie theater, hair and makeup salon, bowling alley, basketball court and indoor and outdoor pools.
Dave Letterman joked last night about the fact that Kim Kardashian still isn’t completely divorced from Kris Humphries . . . even though she’s pregnant with Kanye West’s baby. He commented, her lawyers are saying the Humphries situation is going to complicate things when Kim tries to get a divorce from Kanye.
Dave also talked about Kim and Kanye turning down a multi-million-dollar offer for the rights to their first baby photos. He said, “What have you done with the real Kim Kardashian?”
Oprah Winfrey has landed an exclusive interview with Lance Armstrong. The cyclist will reportedly address the alleged doping scandal, years of accusations of cheating, and charges of lying about the use of performance-enhancing drugs throughout his storied cycling career. The special 90-minute Thursday night episode of Oprah’s Next Chapter will air Thursday, January 17th.
Brian Williams from NBC’s “Nightly News” was on “Letterman” last night, and he did a really good impression of Regis Philbin. The topic of Regis came up because he was recently on the show with David, and Brian’s impression cracked Letterman up.
The paparazzi asked Tommy Chong yesterday what he thought about Justin Bieber allegedly smoking pot. And Tommy said he knew Justin was a smoker, even before Justin knew it. Because of the way he dances and sings. Tommy says you don’t get talent like that from drinking alcohol.
Speaking of the Biebs, “Saturday Night Live” has booked Bieber to host AND be the musical guest on the February 9th episode. He has appeared on “SNL” before, but he’s never hosted. Justin was the musical guest back in April of 2010 and he made a cameo last year, in the 100th Digital Short.
Howie Mandel was on “Access Hollywood” yesterday, talking about turning 60 and getting himself in shape. He said he did it because he was afraid of dying. But apparently he still thinks it’s funny enough to fire off a string of jokes about it. He asked if it was true that someone had once died in the middle of a talk show. Then he asked if that was happening to him right at that moment.
Seth Rogen will guest star next month on Fox’s “The Mindy Project” as the latest romantic interest for Mindy Kaling’s character. On the show, Rogen will play Sam, who gave Mindy her first kiss when the two were teens at a Jewish summer camp. The pair gets nostalgic and soon rekindles the teen romance.
Emmy-winning Genie Francis is returning to “General Hospital” after a brief stay on “The Young And Restless”. Francis just closed a deal to reprise her role as Laura Spencer for the drama’s 50th anniversary this year. She’ll report to the Los Angeles set sometime later this month for a February 11th. It’s unclear how long Francis, a.k.a. Laura, will stick around Port Charles this time and what her story line might be, but it is promised to be full of drama.
Dina Lohan says the reason her daughter, Lindsay is so messed up is because her ex-husband Michael Lohan used to physically abuse her when they were a young couple. Dina never filed charges, but does have medical paperwork that says she was treated for blunt trauma and photographs of the injury. Michael responds that he did “slap” Dina in 1986, but only after she attacked him with an ice tray.
