Katy Perry hit the stage at the 2013 Kids’ Inaugural Concert on Saturday at the Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. First Lady Michelle Obama and her daughters Sasha and Malia were in the audience dancing and throwing their hands up as the “Firework” singer performed hits like “Teenage Dream” and “Wide Awake” at the event that honored America’s military families. Usher also was on hand for the concert as well, performing “Yeah!,” “Without You” and “O.M.G.”
SNL had some fun at Lance Armstrong’s expense this week. Jason Sudeikis mocked Armstrong on “Saturday Night Live”. He says he took testosterone, HGH, steroids, and EPO and replaced all his blood with better blood.
Manti Te’o caught it from pretty much everybody this weekend, too. ”Saturday Night Live” had him in an interview with Piers Morgan, where he just couldn’t get clear on the whole idea of a hoax. At one point Manti talks about getting a phone call from Lennay where she tells him she died and he offers her a ride to the funeral.
Katie Couric has landed the first television interview with Manti Te’o, the Notre Dame football star who fell for a girl he had never met…only to find out she never existed and had been tricked by a former acquaintance. The interview will air on Thursday during Couric’s daytime talk show. Te’o will be joined by his parents, Brian and Ottilia, for the interview.
You know who’s been raking in the dough since Quarterback Colin Kaepernick has become the San Francisco 49er’s main man? His tattoo artist! Nes Andrion has been working on Colin for years at his shop in Reno. Now customers are coming in asking for Niners themed ink and they want to have it done by the same guy who does Colin’s ink. According to Nes, Colin will be coming back in the off-season to finish his enormous angel-demon-themed chest piece.
CBS commentator Shannon Sharpe ripped into New England coach Bill Belichick for refusing to give a post-game interview when the Patriots lost to the Ravens last night. He said, quote, “Bill Belichick makes it real easy for you to root against the Patriots. You can’t be a poor sport all the time. You’re not gonna win all the time. And he does this every time he loses. It is unacceptable.”
Justin Bieber posted a photo of his naked rear end on Instagram on Saturday night and it got 86,000 likes before he could delete it. We really didn’t need to see his white, bare butt crack. Thank you Biebs for taking it down so quickly.
Actor, Leonardo DiCaprio says he is going to take a significant break from filming and concentrate on his environmental campaigning. In an interview with Germany’s daily Bild, the 38-year-old said he’s worn out after doing three films in just two years and now wants to set his sites on making the world a better place. DiCaprio says he is going to fly around the world doing good for the environment. (Don’t fly would be a good start.) The actor went on to say all he does to be green including. “My roof is covered with solar panels. My car is electric. A normal person does not drive more than 50km a day. That can be done with a plug.” Not sure he knows what a normal person does.
Barbara Walters was taken to a hospital Saturday night after cutting her head following a fall, but the talk show host is alert and doing well. Walters was visiting the British Ambassador’s residence when she fell on a stair and cut her forehead.
Remember that plea bargain that Lindsay Lohan’s sort-of fired lawyer had set up? It would have kept Lindsay out of jail, by going to rehab. Well, the starlet doesn’t care that the prosecutor in her car crash case is willing to let her skate without spending a day in jail … because she won’t plea bargain a case in which she says she’s innocent. Presumably, the offer is still on the table but we’re told Lindsay could not be less interested. She doesn’t think she did anything wrong and will not plead to a crime she says she didn’t commit. If the case goes to trial and Lindsay is found guilty, she faces 19 months in jail. On top of that, the lying-to-cops case has triggered a probation violation in her jewelry heist case and she could get ANOTHER 245 days for that.
Conan O’Brien’s longtime sidekick Andy Richter has been cast on “Happy Endings” as Penny’s father, Roy. We can expect Roy to reenter Penny’s life just as things are getting more serious with her and her new boyfriend…
Nine-time U.S. national figure skating champion and five-time world champion Michelle Kwan got married on Saturday. Kwan, 32, married Clay Pell, 31, director for strategic planning on the National Security staff at the White House. Pell, a JAG and Lieutenant in the U.S. Coast Guard, was dressed in full uniform for the ceremony. Kwan, who cried while walking down the aisle with her father, Danny Kwan, wore an ivory Vera Wang gown. Included in the 240 guests were Olympic skating champions Brian Boitano, Dick Button and Dorothy Hamill.
“Criminal Minds” actress, Paget Brewster has nabbed a key role on “Modern Family.” The actress plays a (sort of) romantic rival for Sofia Vergara’s character, Gloria. In an upcoming episode, Gloria’s ex, Javier will return to the show. This time, when he comes to visit his son Manny, he’s bringing company. Brewster plays Javier’s new girlfriend, Trish. Brewster left the show at the end of last season, hoping to pursue comedy and to do a half-hour sitcom.
