New Kids on the Block were on “The View” yesterday, with a big surprise announcement. They’re going on tour this year with 98 Degrees and Boyz II Men.

The Marine Corp Band says that Beyonce didn’t sing the national anthem at the inauguration of Barak Obama on Monday. Everyone knows the singer pre-recorded a vocal track days before the ceremony so did the band.  Beyonce and the band never did have time to practice together before the performance, so it was thought a pre-recorded perfect version would be the best.  Several news outlets have confirmed the lip-syncing, noting that it didn’t appear the band was playing live. The spokeswoman says that the Marine Corps Band pre-records all the music for the inauguration “and have done since time immemorial.” She says it was Beyonce’s decision to go with the pre-recorded track. Beyonce pulled her earpiece out midway through the song, but that was apparently just for show.

Barbara Walters is still in the hospital after falling down the stairs on Saturday.  But Whoopi Goldberg read a note from her on “The View” yesterday to let us know she’s okay.  The note said she has a fever and the doctors want to keep her there until it goes down.  But she’s recovering and expects to be home soon.

Despite all the reports Katherine Webb and Lindsay Lohan will not be appearing on “Dancing With the Stars.” She might not be ready to dance in front of the nation, but Webb is entering the reality TV circuit. TMZ confirmed Miss Alabama has joined the ABC reality series “Celebrity Diving” alongside Kendra Wilkinson and Drake Bell.  Lindsay was reportedly offered over half a million dollars to star on the show but turned it down.

Talk about gracious.  Lady Gaga just tweeted congratulations to Justin Bieber who has finally passed her as the most followed person on Twitter. At the time of this report, Bieber had over 33,346,000 followers while Gaga had 33,339,000. It could be that her Little Monsters take this news as a challenge and try to close that 7,000 follower gap. “So proud of @justinbieber and all the Beliebers!” she tweeted. “I’m only happy to see your fans growing in size, you all deserve it! Monsters support you!”

Oscar winning actress, Jennifer Hudson, who got her big break on season 3 of “American Idol” is now saying that the show should stop while it’s ahead and still in it’s prime.  While the ratings for the show have declined in recent seasons, it’s still the number one singing competition on television. “Everything has its time,” says Hudson.   “I think it should just allow itself to go out on top and gracefully.”  Hudson says she came in 7th in her season and is still proud to have gotten her start there.

It’s been over a year since Maria Shriver filed for divorce from Arnold Schwarzenegger and apparently, he still wants her back.  He reportedly told a German newspaper, quote, “We’re not fighting any war.  I still hope for reconciliation.  I still love Maria.”  Meanwhile, in a separate interview with a British tabloid, Arnold talks about one of the strangest places he’s ever heard someone do one of his catchphrases.  He says, quote, “I was sitting one day on the toilet and next door I heard a loud fart, then I heard the toilet flushing, then someone spitting and then all of a sudden, ‘I’ll be back!’ “The door opened up and I thought, ‘That figures.  In the toilet!’  I get quoted in really weird places.”

He adds, quote, “I’ve been to the toilet with presidents and political leaders, with famous actors and athletes, all kinds of people.”

Shakira gave birth to a baby boy yesterday.  His name is Milan Piqué Mebarak.  His daddy is Spanish soccer stud Gerard Piqué.  In a post on her website, Shakira said, quote, “The name Milan (pronounced MEE-lahn), means dear, loving and gracious in Slavic; in Ancient Roman, eager and laborious; and in Sanskrit, unification.  ”Just like his father, baby Milan became a member of FC Barcelona at birth.”

Saturday Night Lives’ Bill Hader has been cast as David Hassellhoff’s character in the remake movie of “Baywatch.” Whether the comic will sign the contract is yet to be seen. Robert Ben Garant, who co-created “Reno 911!” and is directing. The real Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson will make a cameo in the film The plot of the movie follows lifeguards exploring an oil rig of the Malibu coast that turns out to be a meth lab. Garant said they are aiming for an April start date.

Sheryl Crow will help Blake Shelton mentor his singers on the upcoming season of “The Voice”.  Other mentors that have joined Blake on the show include Kelly Clarkson, Reba McEntire and Miranda Lambert. Season four of The Voice premieres March 25th on NBC.

Helene Eksterowicz, who was proposed to by Aaron Buerge in “The Bachelor” has gotten engaged.  Helene and Aaron lasted only five weeks after the show aired and Aaron eventually married another woman in 2009. Helene has been dating Andrew Goodman, a senior technology consultant for IBM for the past year and a half. She’s currently a middle school psychologist. Goodman proposed during a birthday trip to the Poconos last weekend. Andrew popped the question after singing a karaoke version of the song ‘Fire and Rain,’ ” she says. “I almost thought it was a joke!”  The couple plan to wed this summer.
