The long-rumored Cirque Du Soleil show based on the music of Michael Jackson was formally announced Thursday afternoon. Premiering June 29 at Las Vegas’s Mandalay Bay, the show, Michael Jackson ONE, will run 90 minutes and will feature more than 60 dancers and aerialists performing to Jackson’s best known music. Tickets for the general public go on sale March 7th.
Speaking of MJ, Dr. Arnold Klein, the dermatologist who was best friends with Michael Jackson and injected him with Demerol, has a warrant out for his arrest. Klein, who fell from grace, has had to file for bankruptcy and has failed to turn over more than 100 pieces of very expensive artwork as well as a Ferrari Spider to the bankruptcy trustee. The judge has ordered the U.S. Marshals to arrest Klein and send him to the federal pokey until he turns over the goods.
Dan Aykroyd said he’s a producer on the new “Ghostbusters” movie, and he expects to get a new script soon from the screenwriter. He said they’re more on track with the movie than they’re ever been, and he feels good about where it’s going.
Aykroyd did an interview yesterday where he talked about “Ghostbusters 3″ . . . and how Justin Bieber is an ass. He said the new “Ghostbusters” will have new, younger characters.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West who just put down a tight sum of $11 million for an unfinished Bel Air mansion, have turned around and sold the property for a million dollars more than what they paid for it just weeks ago. The couple had wanted to turn the 10,000 square foot residence into a 14,000 square foot mega mansion complete with a gym, movie theater, basketball court and full service beauty salon for Kim. Someone just changed their mind….the jet setter pair are said to be looking for a number of homes around the world including Miami, Paris, and New York.
Aaaaaand Conan O’Brien talked about Kim Kardashian saying if she wasn’t a celebrity, she’d want to be a crime scene investigator. He said she’s qualified because she’s spent most of her life collecting DNA samples.
Justin Timberlake is one busy guy. Not only will JT host/perform on March 9th’s “Saturday Night Live” but he’ll spend a week (March 11-15) guesting on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon”. Timberlake’s new album comes out March 19th.
If rumors are true, Jessica Simpson will be naming her second child, “Ace”…Ace will join sister, Maxwell Drew, in the family. While Simpson and fiance Eric Johnson have not revealed the sex of their child, they expect the baby to be born on Christmas Day.
Here’s a shocker: Shia LeBeouf and Alec Baldwin were cast in a play together, and they couldn’t get along. It was announced earlier this week that Shia had quit over “creative differences”. But he posted emails on Twitter between himself, the director and Alec that seem to prove the two of them were clashing. Although it doesn’t sound like there’s major bad blood between them.
Josh Brolin and Diane Lane are getting a divorce after eight years of marriage. According to a source, the break up was mutual and very amicable. Things haven’t always been a bed of roses for this couple. Josh was arrested in 2004, just a few months after getting married, for a misdemeanor domestic battery when they got into a physical fight. Diane has also been rumored to give Josh ultimatums about his drinking, and he was arrested for public intoxication on New Year’s Day this year. Both Brolin and Lane have been married before.
US Weekly is reporting that Lindsay Lohan appears to have taken some scissors to a borrowed designer THEIA dress after an American Foundation for AIDS Research event in New York City during Fashion Week. According to sources, Lohan ripped the dress and refused to continue wearing it….so her stylist got some scissors and cut the dress short in front and kept it long in back. Charlie Sheen had reportedly called celebrity stylist Phillip Bloch to get Lohan a dress for the amfAR event. Sheen allegedly offered to “go halfsies” with Lohan on buying the dress, but she chose to borrow the dress instead.
Rachael Ray is starting her own line of publishing and will be putting out 2-3 books a year. The first offering will be a book called, “Lunch Box Blues” by AP food editor JM Hirsh on September 3rd. The book offers hundreds of ideas for packed lunches for both kids and adults. “Fake and Bake” by award-winning pastry chef Heather Bertinetti follows in October, focusing on desserts and pastries. Ray says she wanted to do a publishing line “to showcase writers and authors who help us all live the good life.” Racheal’s own books have sold more than 10 million copies and have spent a total of 257 weeks on the The New York Times best-seller list.
Pitbull has won the lawsuit that Lindsay Lohan had filed against him. She sued him, Ne-Yo and Afrojack over their 2011 hit song “Give Me Everything” in which Pitbull raps, “I’ve got it locked up like Lindsay Lohan”. A federal judge dismissed the case on Wednesday ruling that the song’s lyrics are protected by the First Amendment, which covers freedom of speech and creative expression.
Former “MADtv” star, Aries Spears and his wife of 2 years are getting a divorce. His soon to be ex, Elisa Larregui filed the docs in L.A. County Superior Court, citing “irreconcilable differences.” The two were married back in December 2010 and separated on February 5th. They have a 3-year-old son. According to the divorce docs, Elisa wants full legal and physical custody of their son. Elisa only wants Aries to be allowed MONITORED visitation. She also wants spousal support.
