As expected, the Los Angeles County DA’s office formally charged Dr. Conrad Murray with one count of involuntary manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson. His lawyer entered a plea of not guilty. The doc was remanded into the custody of the sheriff’s department to be booked and processed. Additionally, the judge jacked his bail from $25,000 to $75,000. In an additional development, the Attorney General’s office of California has filed a motion to revoke Murray’s medical license altogether. … (more…)

One of the surprises that ran during the Super Bowl commercials was a promo for CBS’ “Late Show”. Jay Leno and David Letterman sat on opposite ends of a sofa with Oprah in between. They ate chips and looked rather unhappy about their Super Bowl party. How did they keep it a secret? Leno was snuck into the Ed Sullivan Theater last Tuesday during the middle of a taping wearing a mustache, glasses and a hooded sweatshirt. … (more…)

Michael Jackson’s doctor, Conrad Murray, was supposed to surrender to authorities today, according to his lawyer. L.A. authorities (cops and prosecutors) have been haggling over how this should go down. The sticking point has been whether he should be arrested or allowed to turn himself in. The LAPD isn’t satisfied with him surrendering and wants to arrest him. They had several reasons for this position, including the possibility that the doc might pull an O.J. and flee before arraignment. As of late yesterday, the whole dilemma had put everything on hold. 

Dr. Conrad Murry visited Michael Jackson’s burial place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California. Murray went to the cemetery to pay his respects to his former patient, but since Murray is not on the family’s list of approved visitors, he was not able to gain access directly to Jackson’s crypt. … (more…)

TMZ is reporting that one of Tiger Woods‘ alleged mistresses is threatening to sue a golf businessman who has released a line of golf balls with photos of Tiger’s mistresses on them.  The woman at the center of the situation is Joslyn James, a former porn star who claims she had an affair with Woods. James, whose smiling face is on one of the “Tail of the Tiger” golf balls, is concerned that the golf balls send the wrong message and encourage violence against women.  The box of 12 golf balls is being sold under the name, “The Mistress Collection.” … (more…)

The “highlight” of the “American Idol” auditions in Denver last night came at the end when a guy named Ty Hemmerling came on set in a bikini and began to speak/sing Billy Ray Cyrus’ “Achy Breaky Heart”. It resulted in the judges fleeing the set. As they beat feet Kara DioGuardi told Bikini Boy, “Don’t move your hips like that, honey. It’s not a good look.” Bikini Boy responded to the flight with, “That’s kind of rude. I think you should at least stay. Kara, please stay! Can I get a hug?” … (more…)

MTV did an online poll asking fans to vote for their favorite performance at Sunday night’s Grammys and Pink came out on top with 33 percent of the vote. Pink had a big advantage because producers had her perform solo. Most of the rest of the night’s performances were mismatched collaborations that were mediocre to horrible. The Lady Gaga/Elton John duet came in second. … (more…)

Chatting with Oprah yesterday, Jay Leno said being asked six years ago to step aside so Conan O’Brien could take over the “Tonight” how came as a crushing blow. “It broke my heart, it really did,” he said. “I was devastated.” He revealed that NBC executives told him in 2004 that they didn’t want to lose O’Brien and were going to ask him take over Leno’s spot as host in 2009. “That was pretty shocking,” Leno said. “I most certainly did,” feel disrespected. … (more…)

The drumbeat of a Brad Pitt/Angelina Jolie split is getting louder. Us Weekly is quoting sources that say things aren’t good and that Jolie doesn’t think Pitt is pulling his weight when it comes to taking care of their six kids. 

Jay Leno, in an interview on the Oprah Winfrey Show, says he still hasn’t talked to Conan O’Brien ever since the late night wars broke out.  Leno says he wanted to call Conan, but “it didn’t seem appropriate.”  He says he’s going to let things cool down a bit first and then maybe they’ll talk.l Leno tells Winfrey he didn’t take any of the jokes seriously. “They were jokes. And that’s okay,” he says, adding, “It’s what we do, you know? You can’t — it’s like being a fighter and say when you got punched in the head, did it hurt? Well, yeah. But you’re a fighter. That’s what you do.” O’Brien’s last night Jan. 22 drew a preliminary rating of 7.0, which translates to about 8 million households. … (more…)

Denise Richards sat down with Oprah yesterday and told her Charlie Sheen was verbally abusive towards her during their marriage. “There were times during the marriage where there was a lot of verbal abuse. He never hit me,” she revealed. “It was a lot of verbal arguments [that] got extremely heated [and] that scared me. … I think that Charlie has a very sharp tongue.” … (more…)

Celebrity investigative reporter Gerald Posner says he has two sources that have shed some light on the night Tiger Woods crashed his SUV. Apparently the day before Thanksgiving Woods told his wife that the National Enquirer was getting ready to run a story about his affair with Rachel Uchitel, but assured her the story was false and that his relationship with Uchitel was platonic. Woods took some Ambien on the night of the incident to get some sleep and his wife Elin found Uchitel’s number in Tiger’s cell phone. Elin sent a few texts along the “I miss you” line and Uchitel responded like she was texting her lover Tiger. Elin then called her using Tiger’s phone and the jig was up. The Ambien was apparently the reason Woods was reportedly sleeping at the crash site when police arrived. … (more…)
